What shall I bring to the club?
All members will be given a swipe card, which they will need to access the gym, a plastic drinks bottle and gym gloves are recommended to those lifting weights.
What should I wear?
Wear light, breathable clothes that you can move freely in, but please respect your fellow gym members. We ask you to wear a top at all times, indoor non-marking shoes and please no football or offensive shirts.
Do you provide towels?
Yes, we provide fresh, clean gym towels free of charge.
Do you have changing facilities?
Our spacious and luxurious changing rooms feature under-floor heating, Italian styled marble showers, with products and towels provided. Secure lockers are also available.
What is TechnoGym?
Technogym® is Europe’s largest manufacturer of wellness equipment, renowned the world over for its advanced design and technology. Stoke Park has a large selection of cardio, flexibility, and resistance cable machines including Kinesis, as well as the Wellness Key System and Club 2.0.
Will someone help me get started when I get there?
Yes all new members will go through a three step induction.
1. Consultation – an informal chat with a Trainer who will go through your main aims and objectives, and answer any questions you may have.
2. Fitness/health assessment – here, your general state of well-being and fitness level will be assessed in order for our staff to design a safe and effective personalised program.
3. Training session – once your program has been written, you will go through it with your Trainer. This way, you will become familiar with the exercises, and have any queries answered there and then.
Do you offer Personal Training sessions?
Yes, our Trainers offer bespoke Personal Training sessions designed to help you achieve your goals quickly, safely and efficiently. All our Trainers are Level 3 qualified on the Register of Exercise Professionals.
What group classes do you offer?
We offer 21 different types of classes, ranging from high intensity Boxing Circuits to low impact Salsa session, Yoga and Pilates. Sessions are led by our expert team who will help you achieve your potential and support you all the way. For a timetable of studio classes, please click here.
I’ve never done group exercise before, can I just join in or do I have to book?
We know that starting your road to fitness is often very daunting. The majority of classes welcome beginners from all levels of fitness, and you can join in as much or as little as you like. All classes must be booked in advance by calling 01753 717170.
Do I have to pay extra for group classes?
Unless stated otherwise all group classes are offered complementary as part of your membership.
Which classes will help me lose weight?
To a varying degree most of our classes will help in achieving weight loss. The higher energy classes such as Bodypump, Studio Cycling and Circuits will generally produce faster results.
Can you guarantee results?
We can guarantee that we will provide you with the best support, group classes, advice and facilities, but the hard work is down to you!
I like to listen to music when I exercise, are there any audio facilities?
Yes all the CV machines have built in televisions with music channels to which you can plug your head phones into.
Can I bring a friend on occasions?
Health Members will be able to introduce guests (one guest per visit) to use the gym and swimming pool and attend the fitness classes. Health guests who wish to use the gym and attend classes will be required to complete a full medical questionnaire prior to their initial visit. No individual guest may be introduced more than six times in total in any one membership year.
I have a health condition, can I still join?
Depending on the specific condition, it is sometimes recommended that you seek advice from your doctor before using the gym, but it is entirely down you to act on our advice. Stoke Park now operate with a Health Commitment Statement (HCS) to all members and Hotel & Spa Guests, which has replaced the Medical PAR-Q. The HSC will be on display in the gym for you to read.
Is the pool water safe and is it warm?
Yes, our swimming pool is heated and sanitised, with tightly managed chemical levels.
How old do I have to be to join?
Only over 16’s are allowed to join the gym.
